From the Publisher
We are on the verge of an epidemic. All over the world, diabetes is surfacing as the number one killer not only in affluent countries but surprisingly enough in the developing world as well. Diabetes experts say that what is heading to America is the equivalent of a medical tsunami. In the last twenty years, the number of diagnosed cases has more than double and the problem is headed to catastrophic proportions with the number of obese adults and chubby children. Touched by Diabetes hopes to raise conciousness and erase the stigma attached to this condition. It purports to create a dialogue among parents, children and clinicians in order to alleviate some of the suffering caused by advanced diabetic conditions. Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions throughout the world and the author aims to impart knowledge and hope. In turn, this knowledge can lead to more effective treatment and control of this disease, and possibly even prevention.
