From the Publisher
This is the Second Edition of this practical guide to epilepsy. Like the First Edition, the text has been written for general physicians, general practitioners, epilepsy nurses, neurologists in training, and medical students, to provide a concise core of background information on the nature, causes, and treatment of epilepsy, and to supply answers to some of the questions most commonly asked regarding these issues. This new edition has been completely updated. The publication is divided into thirteen chapters. The first five describe the epidemiology, nature and characteristics of epilepsy and other seizure disorders. Other chapters deal with medical and surgical treatment and the psychiatric aspects of epilepsy. The issues of genetic counseling are also addressed. Issues of leisure and work are dealt with as well as a selection of questions frequently asked by people with epilepsy in the final chapter.
