Product Overview
From Follett

"All images from this book are drawn from Gaudiani's series 'Forty eight states, Frontier states, Forty eight states II, and West'"--Title page verso. A collection of photographs of the United States taken from trains by Candace Plummer Gaudiani.

From the Publisher

The series explores what it means to be part of and sometimes estranged from the places we hold in our memories. The ambiguity of belonging, longing, and estrangement led to the artist's choice of framing each image through a train window. We are on the inside looking out, reaffirming that we are always between destinations, from birth to the end.

Candace Plummer Gaudiani's work is in public collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; George Eastman House; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; The Cleveland Museum of Art; and the Harry Ransom Center for the Humanities, Austin, Texas.
